The Church Comms Cohort

Lead your church communications with confidence. Walk away with a simple plan, a messaging calendar, and a plan that works.

In This 6-Week Comms Cohort We Will Cover

-Plus a Special Session on Crisis Comms-

We’ll hear from a crisis communications expert on what every church needs to have in place before a crisis hits, how to build a solid communications plan, and who should be at the table when things go sideways.

A Lot of Churches Are Getting Comms Wrong

They’re leading with comms creative instead of comms strategy. Assets alone (bulletins, slides, posts, videos) aren’t enough.

A good strategy communicates the heart of the church and connects every message back to the mission.

“Julie’s incredible insight into how comms should function in nonprofits and churches was instrumental in giving me confidence in my role. After eight weeks of working with her, I can prioritize what matters and communicate messages strategically. ‘Highly recommend’ would be an understatement—she’s a game changer!”

-Rachel Summers, Northstar Church

Communications Coordinator

Led by Julie Masson,
CCO for Nonprofits

I’ve spent over 15 years in faith-based and nonprofit communications, including a stint serving as the Director of Comms at my own church.

This year, I’ve helped several churches build strategies that actually stick. I know what it’s like to juggle everything and still wonder if your message is landing. That’s why I created this cohort—to give you simple, sustainable strategies you’ll actually use whether you're a team of one or a team of many.

If you’re going to invest in a comms cohort, you want to know you’re learning from someone who’s been there. I’ve led communications for the policy arm of the largest Protestant denomination in the U.S., managed high-stakes crises involving national media and Supreme Court cases, and stepped into interim leadership during a major executive transition. I’ve also served as a Director of Communications at my own church, worked with multiple congregations this year to build sustainable strategies, and understand firsthand the unique challenges of ministry communications.

This isn’t just theory. It’s the kind of experience that comes from years of navigating real church and nonprofit pressure, politics, and priorities. I’ll help you take what works at the highest levels and adapt it to your context—so you can set strategy, get leadership buy-in, and finally build a comms approach that works. As part of the cohort, I’ll personally review your final messaging calendar and provide tailored input to ensure it’s practical and effective for your church.

You’re Not Just Learning Theory.

You’re Learning from the Trenches.

Get Access to Me and a Group of Peers

Participants get access to a private Slack channel, where you can connect with me between sessions and get real-time support from a group of peers who are navigating similar challenges. It's a space for quick questions, shared wins, and ongoing encouragement throughout the 6 weeks.

Want to meet me first and ask a few questions? Schedule a 15-min Zoom call here

For $750, you’ll get 6 weeks of expert coaching, real-time feedback, and a built-in network of peers who actually get what you do. You’ll walk away with a clear plan, stronger messaging, smarter systems, and the confidence to lead comms instead of just reacting to it.

If you’re looking for a lower-cost way to join, the $450 remote option includes recordings of all live training sessions plus every template and resource we use together, as well as Slack access to peers in the cohort. It does not include direct feedback from me between sessions or a personalized messaging calendar review.

To put that in perspective: a typical 2–3 day conference can easily run you $2,500+ once you factor in registration, flights, hotel, and food. And all you leave with is a tote bag and a few notes you probably won’t revisit.

This isn’t just another webinar or course. It’s strategic, actionable, and designed to create momentum right away.

10% of all Church Comms Cohort enrollment fees go to The Upstream Collective, a church-focused missions sending agency where I’m grateful to serve on the board.
