"Without any prior experience in communications, it was crucial to have someone guide me in my new role. Julie's incredible insight into how comms should function at a church was instrumental in gaining confidence. After eight weeks of working with Julie, I can move through my day to day with confidence and clarity, knowing how to prioritize what matters and communicate messages strategically. When it comes to working with Julie, 'highly recommend' would be an understatement. She's a game changer for any organization looking to elevate its communications!"

If you're reading this, you're probably experiencing one (or all) of these scenarios:
-
You're scrambling every week trying to figure out what to post on social media
-
Your pastor or colleagues keep coming to you with last-minute announcement requests
-
You're promoting five different things at once and nothing is getting traction
-
People in your congregation say they "didn't know" about something you promoted three times
-
You feel like you're just reacting to whoever is loudest on staff rather than being strategic
-
You're exhausted from the constant firefighting mode
-
It feels like your leader expects you to read their mind about what matters most

Here's what you need to hear: You're not alone in this. And there's a better way to lead church communications. One where you're strategic, supported, and not constantly putting out fires.

Meet the CCO
Hi, I'm Julie Masson.

I'm a former church communications director and nonprofit Chief Communications Officer with 17 years of experience leading communications at every level—from social media manager to CCO. I've worked with churches of all sizes, faith-based organizations, non-partisan policy groups, education nonprofits, and more.

I built the Church Comms Club because I've been there. I know what it's like to balance worship bulletins with social media strategy, to manage volunteers who mean well but need guidance, and to communicate sensitive messages that require both pastoral care and strategic thinking. I know the unique pressure of getting Christmas and Easter campaigns right when half your annual visitors are coming. And I know what it's like to feel alone in this work.

Limited resources and being a team of one shouldn't mean limited strategy.
Every church deserves a communicator who can think strategically, even if you're a volunteer, even if you're just starting out.

That's what the Church Comms Club will help you become. You don't have to figure it out alone anymore.

FAQs
-
What if I can't attend the live sessions? All monthly Q&A calls and quarterly trainings are recorded and posted immediately in Circle, our community platform. Access them anytime.
-
How much time will this require each week? As much or as little as you want! Pop in for quick advice, join live calls, or dive deep into trainings. Some members are really active in the community while others lurk and attend live calls to take it all in.
-
Can I really ask questions anytime? Yes—post questions in the community whenever they come up and get responses from me and fellow members. For real-time problem-solving, bring questions to monthly Q&A calls. This isn't 24/7 emergency support, but it is having a strategic sounding board available when you're facing decisions that matter.
-
I'm just a volunteer, not a paid staff member. Is this still for me? Absolutely! This community is specifically designed for church communicators at every level who want to think more strategically. Whether you're a volunteer, part-time coordinator, or full-time director, you belong here.
-
I'm a pastor doing church communications on top of everything else. Is this for me? Yes! Many pastors at smaller churches are handling communications alongside everything else they do. You'll find both practical help and a community that understands the unique challenge of balancing pastoral care with strategic communication.
-
Can my church pay for this? Absolutely! Many of our members have their churches cover this as professional development.
-
What if my pastor constantly changes plans last minute or doesn't plan ahead? This is one of the most common challenges church communicators face, and it's something we address directly in the community. You'll learn how to have strategic conversations with your pastor, how to build a messaging calendar that gets buy-in upfront, and how to set boundaries that protect both your sanity and your effectiveness.
-
Can I cancel anytime? You can choose to pay monthly, quarterly or annually. If you're unsure whether this community is right for you, start with the monthly option. If it's not a great fit after your first month, simply don't renew. If you love it (and we think you will), you can switch to quarterly or annual payments anytime.
-
What makes this different from a Facebook group or other church communications forums? This isn't a free-for-all Facebook group. It's a private, curated community where only vetted church communicators can join. Your pastor won't see your questions. Consultants aren't pitching you. And instead of endless scrolling for tips and tricks, you get real feedback and expert guidance from someone who's led church communications.
-
What if my church uses different terminology or has different theological emphases than other members? The Church Comms Club is designed to serve church communicators across denominational lines. While we respect theological differences, our focus is on the practical strategic skills that apply across all church contexts—messaging calendars, volunteer communication, ministry launch comms, etc.
-
What denominations are represented in the Church Comms Club? We have church communicators from the Southern Baptist Convention, Church of Christ, PCA, Wesleyan, and other denominations. Our focus is on practical communications skills that work across all church contexts while respecting each church's unique theology.
-
I'm promoting five different things at once and nothing is getting traction. Can this help Yes! One of the core frameworks you'll learn is how to build a messaging calendar where you say ONE main thing all month across all channels—but in different ways that support different ministries and events. This is the shift that stops the chaos and actually helps your congregation remember what you're saying. You'll get the exact templates and strategies to implement this at your church.
WHY STRATEGIC CHURCH COMMUNICATIONS MATTERS
If communications is just a service department, you will have burnout upon burnout. You'll constantly be in reactive mode, serving whoever is loudest on staff rather than what's most strategic for your church.

But when communications is strategic:
-
You prevent chaos. Instead of random messages that don't connect, you have a through-line that helps your people understand who you are as a church and what God is calling them to do.
-
You create consistency without redundancy. You say the same core message in different ways across different channels—email, social, stage announcements, website—without being repetitive.
-
You get autonomy and time back. Leadership comes in at the front and says, "Here's what we're going to say," and you work collaboratively. But then you get the autonomy to run with the plan without constant approval on every post.
-
You become a strategic partner. You're not just executing tactics. You're connecting your communications work to your church's mission and sermon series. You're advocating for your work effectively. And you're making confident decisions even when resources are limited.
"Thank you so much for running this cohort. You’ve been a fantastic and engaging coach and it’s been so interesting to hear from others about their challenges and how they approach things. It can be a lonely world in comms sometimes!"
